In August, 2018 I traveled to Tokyo, Japan to attend a Magnum Photos workshop run by Newsha Tavakolian and Susan Meiselas. My first day in the city before the workshop was spent exploring more broadly, though a large portion of the afternoon was focused on the area around Meiji Shrine. During the workshop, I was heavily focused on the more residential areas near Asagaya. Overall, Tokyo is quite possibly the safest major city on the planet, which makes for interesting photographic situations. I frequently found myself turning down dark alleys at 3:00am with zero hesitation because something on the street caught my eye.
